What is COMPASS?
COMPASS is a yearlong cohort program that helps first-year students thrive by supporting their academic success, strengthening their confidence, and providing consistent guidance all year long.
Why join COMPASS?
- One-on-one support: First-year students receive monthly check-ins with the COMPASS cohort coordinator for personalized guidance.
- Building community: Students connect with their cohort through a virtual summer orientation and monthly meetups throughout the year.
- Courses for success:
- ACSR 1015: Flourishing Student Experience – Fall semester (1 credit)
- ACSR 1030: Career Planning – Spring semester (2 credits)
- Textbook assistance: Students receive a $100 textbook voucher at the end of each semester.
Extra support at NPU
- First-year advisor: A dedicated advisor helps first-year students create their class schedules each semester.
- Student mentors: Peer Student Success Coaches provide support from the perspective of students who’ve been in their shoes.
- Writing center: A welcoming space that helps students grow as confident and effective writers.
- Tutoring: Available for select courses to help students reach their academic goals.
